Unit Head Brief Profile: Dr. R. K. Dular did his graduation from MDS University, Ajmer and post-graduation from Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner and Ph.D. from CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. Dr. Dular joined SKN Agriculture University, Jobner on 6^th July 2018 as Senior Scientist and Head and served at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Fatehpur-Shekhawati, Sikar from July 2018 to August, 2020 and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kumher-Bharatpur from September, 2020 to June, 2022. On transfer he joined KVK Arnia Sikar-II on 10^th June, 2022 and held the additional charge of KVK Fatehpur, Sikar-I with effect from 2^nd November, 2022. Prior to his appointment in this University, he worked as Assistant Professor (Animal Science) at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gurdaspur, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and as Subject Matter Specialist at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ambala, Haryana. He also worked as Research Associate at CCS HAU, Hisar and various ICAR Institute like ICAR-CIRG, Makhdoom, ICAR-IASRI, New Delhi and ICAR-NDRI, Karnal during 2001-2006. He has published 19 original research papers in NAAS rated journals, published 9 training manuals, 2 book Chapter, 9 technical bulletins and 16 popular articles in various magazines. He has also presented 17 research papers in national/international/world conferences/symposium. Prepared 25 folder and leaflets in simple Hindi language for farmers.

IDENTITY OF THE UNIT

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Fatehpur Shekhawati- Sikar was established in 1976 with the 15.24 hectare land and administrative building donated by Bhartia charitable trust under umbrella of Sri Karan Narendra Agriculture University, Jobner- Jaipur. It is located 50 kms away from district headquarter Sikar, in between Jaipur and Bikaner on the NH-52. Sikar is situated in North part of Rajasthan between 27⁰21 to 28⁰12 North latitude and 74⁰44 to 75⁰25 East longitudes. The neighboring district of Sikar are Churu in North West, Jhunjhunu in North East, Nagaur in South West and Jaipur in South East. Sikar is a rainfed and drought prone district situated in transitional plain of inland drainage zone IIa and it has basically agrarian economy. The goal of KVK is to address location specific issues and technology transfer in agriculture and allied sectors.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVE

§  Conducting ‘on farm testing’ (OFT) for identifying technologies in terms of location specific of agricultural technologies under various farming systems.

§  Organize front line demonstration (FLD) on various crops to generate production data and feed-back information.

§  Organize trainings to Capacity development of farmers and extension personnel to update their knowledge and skills on modern agricultural technologies.

§  Organize short and long term vocational training courses in agriculture and allied vocations for the farmers and rural youths with emphasis on ‘learning by doing’ and ‘teaching by doing’ for higher production on farmers and generating self employment.

§  To work as Knowledge and Resource Centre of agricultural technologies for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector in improving the agricultural economy of the district.

§  Provide farm advisories using ICT and other media means on varied subjects of interest to farmers

§  In addition, KVK produce quality technological products (seed, planting material and livestock) and make it available to farmers, organize frontline extension activities, identify and document selected farm innovations and converge with ongoing schemes and programs within the mandate of KVK.

§  Technology Assessment and Demonstration for its Application and Capacity Development.

THRUST AREA

Considering the agro-climatic condition & inventorization of physical & human resources of the district, following thrust areas have been identified:

§  Enhancing productivity of pearl millet, green gram, cluster bean, cow pea during Kharif and wheat, barley, mustard, chick pea during Rabi.

§  Increasing the seed replacement rate through promoting seed production techniques.

§  Diversification of existing cropping system by promoting cultivation of vegetables and fruit plants such as ber, aonla, beal, acid lime.

§  Promotion of dry land farming technologies with emphasis on water harvesting.

§  Improvement in livestock production & productivity through better management practices.

§  Encourage the organic farming technology.

§  Upliftment of socio–economic status of downtrodden classes through vocational trainings.

§  Empowerment of women through drudgery reduction in agriculture and animal husbandry, improvement in the nutrition, health & hygiene by using improved agricultural implements.

§  Value addition of fruits and vegetables.
