Plant Biotechnology and Biochemistry

Dr. Heena Saheewala is serving as an Assistant Professor in Plant Biotechnology in the Department of Biochemistry, SKN College of Agriculture, Sri Karan Narendra Agriculture University (SKNAU), Jobner, Rajasthan. A First Rank holder in both her Master’s and Doctoral degree programmes, she obtained her Ph.D. from Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, and her Master’s degree from Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University (RPCAU), Pusa, Samastipur, Bihar. Her scholarly pursuits are centered on plant biotechnology, molecular biology, and rhizosphere science, with a focused emphasis on plant–microbe interactions and biofertilizer-driven strategies for sustainable agricultural advancement. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Plant Biotechnology and Biochemistry, integrating molecular rigor with applied relevance to cultivate strong conceptual foundations and practical proficiency among students. Her research contributions include molecular characterization of crop germplasm and the functional assessment of nutrient-solubilizing rhizobacteria (potassium, phosphorus, and zinc) aimed at enhancing nutrient-use efficiency. She has published in reputed peer-reviewed journals and contributed book chapters, manuals, extension bulletins, and popular articles with leading international publishers. Beyond teaching and research, she plays an active role in University-level academic programmes, experiential learning initiatives, and institutional academic processes. A recipient of the Young Scientist Award and Best Ph.D. Thesis Award, she remains committed to advancing scientific learning, innovation, and capacity building through integrated teaching, research, and outreach.
