About KVK, Dausa

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dausa was established in 1995 with full financial contribution from Indian Council of Agriculture Research, New Delhi. It works under administrative control of Sri Karan Narendra Agriculture University, Jobner. It is situated at Lawan Mode on Dausa-Sawai Madhopur National highway 148 and is about 10 kilometers away from district head quarter. It has about 17.3 hectare area consisting of Administrative building, 2 farmer hostels, seed go down, implement shed, 5 residential quarters, water harvesting structure and farm. Since establishment KVK has been working continuously towards transfer of latest and scientific technologies to the farmers, farm women, rural youth and extension functionaries. For proper functioning of KVK 16 posts are sanctioned including Senior Scientist & Head, 6 Subject Matter Specialists, 3 Technical Assistants, 2 Drivers, 2 Ministerial and 2 supporting staff.

Soil of KVK farm is clay loam and calcareous and alkali in nature. The soil of KVK farm has pH value between 8.88 and 9.65 and electrical conductivity (EC) between 0.42 and 1.24 dS/m. The source of irrigation at KVK farm is rain water harvesting structure constructed at farm itself. The KVK is producing breeder and TFL seed of wheat and mustard using this rain water. The KVK has one nursey unit, Sirohi goatry unit, vermin compost unit, Azolla unit, Nutri garden, crop cafeteria, mushroom unit etc. and farm which are also managed by stored rain water of rain water harvesting structure.

Dr. B. L. Jat was born on 19.02.1970 in village Bobari of Jaipur district of Rajasthan. Dr. Jat did his M.Sc. (Ag.) in Agronomy from RAU, Bikaner in 1995. He completed his Ph.D. in Agronomy discipline from MPUAT, Udaipur during 2001. He worked as Senior Technical Assistant at Agriculture Research Station, Fatehpur from 1997 to 2005. He joined Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sawai Madhopur as Assistant Professor (Agronomy) during July 2005 and then transferred to Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dausa during July 2006. He became Associate Professor CAS (Agronomy) on 12.07.2017.He has promoted to Professor Agronomy (CAS) on 13.07.2020 and posted at COA, Lalsot from September 2024. He has published 55 research papers in national and international journals and more than one hundred popular articles in various magazines of national and international repute. He also presented 33 research papers in national and international conferences/seminars. He has been working as Senior Scientist and Head at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dausa since 01.06.2019.

Objectives

To demonstrate the latest agricultural technologies to the farmers as well as the extension workers of the state Department of agriculture/Non-Governmental organization with a view to reduce the time lag between the technology generation and its adoption.
To test and verify the technology in the socio economic condition of the farmers and to identify the production constraints.
To get first hand scientific feed back from the field and passing it to concern research system in order to keep the scientist abreast with the performance of the technology and the farming problems, so that they can re -orient their research, education and training programmes accordingly.
To impart training to the farmers, farmwomen, rural youths and field level extension functionaries by following the principle of "learning by doing".
To develop extension models to be adopted by general extension system at large scale multiplications.

Mandates

Organizing training to update the extension personnel with emerging advances in agricultural research on regular basis.
Organizing short and long term vocational training courses in agriculture and allied vocations for the farmers and rural youths with emphasis on "Learning by doing" for higher production on farms and generating self-employment.
Organizing Front Line Demonstrations (FLDS) on various crops to generate production data and feedback information.
