Biochemistry, Biotechnology, abiotic stress in plants, quality evaluation in cereal, pulses, oilseeds and species

Dr. Girish Kumar Mittal is an accomplished agricultural biochemist currently serving as Assistant Professor and In-charge, Department of Biochemistry at Sri Karan Narendra Agriculture University, Jobner (Jaipur). He obtained his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Agriculture from Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer in 2000, M.Sc. (Agriculture) in Biochemistry from Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur in 2002, and Ph.D. in Agricultural Biochemistry from Anand Agricultural University, Anand in 2010. He qualified ICAR-NET in Plant Science conducted by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.
He previously served as Research Associate and Senior Research Fellow at reputed institutes including MPUA&T Udaipur, ICAR-Directorate of Groundnut Research (Junagadh), Sorghum Research Station (SDAU, Deesa), and ICAR-Directorate of Maize Research, IARI, New Delhi. His specialization focuses on biochemical and molecular studies of biotic and abiotic stress tolerance in crops and quality evaluation of cereals, pulses, oilseeds, and seed spices for nutritional benefits. He completed an international training on metabolomics at Aberystwyth University (UK) under the World Bank-funded IDP-NAHEP program in 2023.
Dr. Mittal has published over 30 research papers, authored two books, six book chapters, and a laboratory manual, and guided seven M.Sc. students as Major Advisor while mentoring more than 40 postgraduate and doctoral scholars. He is a life member of five scientific societies and recipient of the “Young Scientist Award-2023” from the Indian Society of Seed Spices and was conferred Fellow (F.I.S.A.B.) by the Indian Society of Agricultural Biochemists. He has also earned multiple Best Oral and Poster Presentation awards at national and international conferences.
