Plant Pathology

Dr. Manohar Lal Meena is currently serving as Professor (Plant Pathology) at Sri Karan Narendra Agriculture University, Jobner. He is a distinguished academician and plant pathologist with over two decades of extensive experience in agricultural education, research, and institutional administration. Born on 12 July 1969, he completed his B.Sc. (Agriculture), M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner, specializing in seed-borne fungal diseases and the biological management of plant pathogens, particularly in Isabgol. He began his professional career at ICAR-Central Potato Research Institute, Kufri and subsequently joined academia, serving in various teaching and administrative capacities at Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner and Sri Karan Narendra Agriculture University, Jobner, including significant contributions at the College of Agriculture, Lalsot. Over the years, he has taught core subjects such as Agricultural Microbiology, Plant Pathology, Epidemiology, and Integrated Disease Management, while also undertaking key administrative responsibilities, including Assistant Examination Superintendent, Training Organizer, and in-charge of various institutional units. He has actively contributed to laboratory strengthening, library development, the establishment of a mushroom cultivation unit and a plant health clinic, and the organization of farmer-oriented extension programmes. Dr. Meena has published more than 25 research papers in reputed NAAS-rated journals, authored book chapters and 46 popular articles, and presented his research findings at numerous national and international forums, with major research emphasis on seed-borne pathogens, Alternaria and Fusarium species, and sustainable disease management strategies. He has delivered expert lectures in sponsored training programmes and participated in radio talks to promote agricultural awareness. A life member of the Plant Protection Association of India and the Indian Phytopathological Society, Dr. Meena is widely recognized for his academic excellence, administrative leadership, and dedicated service toward advancing plant health research and sustainable agricultural development.
